About this race
Arizona's 2nd Congressional District election on November 3, 2026 is a rematch between incumbent Republican Rep. Eli Crane and Democratic challenger Jonathan Nez, the former Navajo Nation president, with Libertarian Curtis Goodwin also on the ballot. The district is Arizona's largest, covering roughly 60% of the state's land area—including Flagstaff, Prescott, the Grand Canyon, and much of the Navajo Nation—and includes 14 tribes whose members make up about 20% of its population.
Crane, a former Navy SEAL and House Freedom Caucus member first elected in 2022, defeated Nez by about nine points in 2024 and emphasizes tax cuts, border security, and reduced federal spending. Nez, who served as Navajo Nation president from 2019 to 2023, campaigns on water security, healthcare and living costs, and rural infrastructure; if elected he would be the first Native American to represent Arizona in Congress.

Jonathan Nez is the Democratic nominee for Arizona's 2nd Congressional District and a former president of the Navajo Nation. Born in Tuba City and raised in Shonto, he served as Shonto Chapter vice president, three terms as a Navajo Nation Council delegate, a Navajo County supervisor, Navajo Nation vice president from 2015 to 2019, and president from 2019 to 2023. He advanced from the uncontested Democratic primary on July 21, 2026, and his "Warrior Up" platform emphasizes water security, lower healthcare and living costs, rural infrastructure, and tribal sovereignty.
Curtis Goodwin is the Libertarian Party nominee for Arizona's 2nd Congressional District, having defeated Alex Flores in the July 21, 2026 Libertarian primary. A Mesa-born, homeschooled maintenance technician who has also worked in construction and other trades, he has not held elected office. His campaign emphasizes individual freedom, limited government, fiscal responsibility, Second Amendment rights, and limiting federal overreach.
